Are your kids eligible for FREE dental?

The Australian Dental Association recommends that children under 18 years of age should have their dental check-up every 6-12 months. To help parents give their kids a lifetime of healthy smiles and good oral habits, the government offers the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS), which offers access to $1,000 worth of dental services over two years for each eligible child.

This means that your child’s dental appointments could cost you NOTHING.

Plus, it’s not just standard check-ups that the CDBS will cover; it can be used on a range of different services, including x-rays, cleaning, fissure sealing, fillings, root canals, and extractions.

Your children may be eligible if:

  • They’re under 18 years old, and they qualify for Medicare, AND

  • They or their parents get a qualifying payment from Centrelink at least once in the calendar year. Call us to find out more about the qualifying payments.

How to claim?

What Happens at the First Visit?

We want your child’s first experience with the dentist to be as positive and pleasant as possible. After all, we want your child to look forward to future visits here at Henley Dental! Our dentists have a great deal of experience providing dental care for children of all ages.

We advise parents to introduce their child/children to professional dental care from the age of three.

Here’s what you can expect at your child’s first dental visit with us:

  • We will examine your child’s teeth and show them proper brushing and flossing (if they are older).

  • To involve your child in their appointment, we may have them hold a mirror as we count their teeth with them.

  • We will discuss proper care and routine dental maintenance with you. At the same time, you can feel free to discuss any concerns that you might have. It's always best to bring them when they are happy and healthy – so their first visit is a positive one. No needles or pain. They will then have the best chance of creating great dental habits for life.

We love the little people – that’s our forte, and we hope to build the experience for them. The fun factor is really important to us, we make sure that the kids see how things work without fear or anxiety.

  • How much do Dental Crowns cost?
Dental Crowns can range in price depending on the material used in the crown and the size of the tooth. Crowns can be made from porcelain, ceramic, and metal, but porcelain crowns are the most popular because they look more natural since they can be colour-matched to your existing teeth. To find out more about our pricing, feel free to contact us to discuss our payment options.
  • How long do Dental Crowns last?
The lifespan of a crown can vary between 5 and 15 years. Some crowns are sturdier than others, and may last 25 - 30 years. Just like natural teeth, you need to maintain Dental Crowns properly with regular 6-monthly check-up appointments, and brushing and flossing at home.
  • Is the Dental Crown procedure painful?
As with most types of dental work, many patients express concern about possible pain and discomfort involved with the procedure. However, the crown process is incredibly common and is typically very easy for both the dentist and the patient, resulting in minimal discomfort throughout the entire process.
  • How long does it take to see results?
Using our CEREC machine we can create same Day Dental Crowns so in just one consultation you can see results. However, treatment times vary from patient to patient, some people see results after 2-3 visits if other dental work is required.
  • Can I use my Health Fund for Dental Crowns with Henley Dental?
In some cases, the answer is yes. If you're insured, there is a good chance your health insurance policy covers your Dental Crown treatment. Most private health insurance funds cover dental care as part of their General treatment, Extras, or Ancillary section. If you have any price-related questions, feel free to contact us on: (02) 9763 7889 discuss our payment options.
